History

The Census of Minority Businesses Survey is a new survey preceded by the Office of Minority Business Services (OMBS), which was conducted for the first time in April 2006. This survey collects data on minority businesses characteristics nationwide. Specifically, data collection for minority businesses includes size of business, operating facility, number of employees, training programs, partnership with other companies and future growth plans. Inline Information Systems (IIS) will also collect aggregate annual income, financial assistance, operating expenses and demographic information. IIS will assist OMBS in establishing programs and policies that will address the needs of start-up businesses and the offices that supervise them.
